Jay Rowe
Jay’s first memorable experience with improv comedy was when he traveled to Las Vegas on his 30th birthday to audition for the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Clown College. The audition consisted of completing a detailed written application and a visit to Ring 1 at the circus, where he competed with other hopefuls by playing several improv games. Alas, although Jay never made it into Clown College, he has used that painful experience and does enjoy his training and performances with the Carolina Improv Company. After 6 years as a college professor, Jay knows the importance of thinking quickly on his feet, creating a supportive environment for others and making people laugh, especially himself, and he credits his improv experiences with helping to refine these talents. Jay is a native of Georgetown County, S.C., and is quick to inject traces of his Southern heritage into his performances. Currently Jay is the Manager of Volunteers and Friends of Brookgreen Gardens.
