Summer Camp: Kids Intro to Acting & Improv Basic introduction to acting through improvisation. Kids will learn the fundamentals of improv, stage craft, storytelling and teamwork. This is a fun way for kids of all levels to perform in front of others and build confidence. Our teaching style is designed to nurture and encourage creativity in an environment without judgment. | | | Kids Camp: Fundamentals of Acting & Improv 101 (Grades 5th-8th) This camp will teach kids how to be positive, listen to others, take risks and work within a team envirnoment. They will learn improv games and be encouraged to use their imaginations as they learn to create characters, build scenes and invent ideas without using props or costumes. The camp will culminate in a performance showcase at Uptown for friends and family.

| | Classes utilize theatre games, scene work and group exercises to teach the fundamentals of improvisation where students will learn to listen, create characters, tell stories and make it up as they go while learning to work as a team/ensemble. They also will learn to relax and react on stage and in front of others. Improv allows students to explore and expand their imaginations and creativity in a safe and non-judgmental environment, where everyone is a genius and failure doesn't exist. Most importantly, our classes are about fun!
Improv classes are suitable for shy kids, for athletic kids, for creative kids, for ALL kids! All kids are treated equally in regards to performance skill levels to ensure team building in a trusting and non-judgmental environment.

Are you a teacher? Learning improv will help you enhance your classes by using humor to make more personal connections with your students. Teachers can adapt improv techniques from classes for existing educational programs and help students learn important skills like listening, physical and verbal communication, team building, brainstorming, vocabulary development, self-confidence and social empathy. Kids and teens can practice acting, storytelling and comedy skills by playing improv games on stage. CIC will offer training that allows young people to learn how to take risks in a safe environment, develop the ability to tell stories collaboratively and work in the moment. |
